Where to write

Send a message

For anything that does not yet have an envelope.

Use the form for general enquiries — retreats, oblation, bequests, press, or simply to say hello. We treat every message in confidence; we do not pass your details to any third party. If your question is pastoral or urgent, please ring rather than write.

For specific purposes

Where to send what.

A few enquiries are handled by specific brothers or trustees; sending to the right address means we can reply within days rather than weeks.

Booking a retreat

Write to the Guestmaster, Br. Crispin Hayward, with your preferred dates, whether you require a hospitality bursary, and any dietary needs. We host individual silent retreats and small group days at Sarum College and the Wells Conference House.

Email the Guestmaster

Applying for a small grant

Cloister & Common Bread small-grants applications close on the last working day of February, June and October. Please read the guidelines on the Resources page first; we are unable to consider applications from outside our four counties.

A bequest in your will

Our Bursar, Mr. John Rushmore FCA, is glad to send by post — never by email — the Trust's preferred form of words and a brief leaflet, A small candle, kept beyond a life. Please mark the envelope private and confidential.

Speaking engagements

Br. Crispin and Dr. Helen Awdry accept a small number of speaking invitations each year — parish quiet days, theological colleges, oblate chapters and similar. Please write at least four months ahead; we cannot accept short-notice requests.

Compline at eight

Come, if you wish, on a Tuesday evening.

The brothers sing Compline by candlelight every Tuesday at eight o'clock, in the Sarum College chapel. The service lasts twenty minutes. There is no collection, no sermon and no requirement to be anything in particular. All are welcome; the side door is left open.
